Guest Speaker: Emmanuel Santos, Art Photographer on “Art and Remembrance”.
Emmanuel Santos was born in the Philippines and is Australia-based documentary and art photographer. He has travelled extensively creating photo essays on tribal traditions, highlighting the universality of human existence. Most of his work in the past three decades has focused on the Jewish Diaspora, the Holocaust and cultures of antiquity.
Santos’ photographs are held in permanent collections including The National Gallery of Victoria, The National Library of Australia, The Jewish Museum of Australia, Musee d’Art et Histoire du Judaisme, Paris, The Bibliotheque Nationale, France and the Beth Hatefutsoth Museum, Israel.
Santos has been commissioned to produce various photographic projects and publications for private, public and commercial institutions.
His portfolios are in the theme of nomadic portraits, visual interpretations of ancient myths and legends and the ongoing Cultural Revolution in the independent countries of the former Soviet Union.
He has regular solo exhibitions and lectures in major cities throughout the world.
