The MHM Social Club Guest Speaker, Rabbi Fred Morgan AM, Rabbi Emeritus, Temple Beth Israel will be giving a lecture on “Is Interfaith Dialogue Working?”
Rabbi Fred Morgan is Professorial Fellow, Faculty of Theology and Philosophy, Australian Catholic University, researching Judaism and interfaith dialogue.
His original studies at Columbia University and Cambridge University, England, were in the religions of India. He was a lecturer in Religious Studies at Bristol University, England, before entering the Leo Baeck College in London to study for the rabbinate. During this time he also spent a year studying in Jerusalem.
Rabbi Morgan was ordained in 1984 and served North West Surrey Synagogue in the UK for 13 years before being appointed Senior Rabbi to Temple Beth Israel, Melbourne. He retired from that position in September 2013 and was was recently appointed Movement Rabbi, Union for Progressive Judaism in Australia, New Zealand and Asia.
