Holocaust education course 2023

We look forward to launching our first Holocaust education course for adults at the new Melbourne Holocaust Museum in February 2023. 

This nine-week course, running over a series of consecutive Monday evenings spans the history of the Holocaust from the rise of Nazism to liberation and post-war return to life. Each evening will run from 7 pm – 9 pm with coffee and tea provided.

The course will be facilitated by MHM Head of Education Dr Simon Holloway and Co-President Sue Hampel, with each evening  dedicated to a particular theme spanning the Holocaust. The topics are as follows:

Week 1:  World that was (Monday, 6 February)

Week 2: From the Cross to the Swastika (Monday, 13 February)

Week 3: Life Unworthy of Life: The Origins of the Final Solution (Monday, 20 February)

Week 4: The Rise and Fall of German and Austrian Jewry (Monday, 27 February)

Week 5: Death and Life in the Nazi Ghettos (Monday, 6 March)

Week 6: The Concentration Camp Universe (Tuesday, 14 March)

Week 7: By Any Means Available: Jewish Resistance (Monday, 20 March)

Week 8: A Survey of Non-Jewish Responses to the Holocaust (Monday, 27 March)

Week 9: Liberation and Return to Life (Monday, 3 April)

This extensive course is available to the public at a cost of $360. We are offering the course at a subsidised cost of $270 for university students, school teachers, and Melbourne Holocaust Museum volunteers.
