Kristallnacht: Carrying History Forward

Invitation for Grandparents, Alumni and Friends – in partnership with the Melbourne Holocaust Museum

Kristallnacht: Carrying History Forward – From Sachsenhausen to exile and new beginnings

Presented by Dr Astrid Ley, Deputy Head, Sachsenhausen Memorial and Museum, Berlin, and supported by Matti Borowski, Informal Jewish Educator, Mount Scopus Memorial College and Lisa Phillips, Director of Education, Melbourne Holocaust Museum.

Dr Astrid Ley will discuss her work developing a new exhibition to be shown in Berlin next November to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Kristallnacht. The exhibition focuses on the fate of the men taken to Sachsenhausen after the November pogrom of 1938, and how they and their families were affected when making new lives in other countries, including Australia.

Matti Borowski and Lisa Phillips will discuss how history is carried forward when teaching the Shoah to today’s students and the wider public.

Please forward this invitation to your fellow grandparents, friends, Scopus alumni and past parents.
