MHM statement: Australian bushfires

The bushfires across Australia have devastated communities, decimated wildlife and caused massive destruction to the natural environment. We at the Melbourne Holocaust Museum are heartbroken, particularly at the loss of life. We are mindful at times such as these of what this country has done for all of us, particularly survivors of the Holocaust. Australia has been inhabited for tens of thousands of years and, more recently, has provided a haven where migrants have settled and flourished. We ask that our community contribute to restoring and rebuilding what has been lost.
