Jewish Resistance

Although Nazi domination made it extremely difficult for Jews to fight back, wherever and whenever it was possible, Jews resisted. Resistance took many forms.

A group of Jewish partisans known as the Olenski group, named after their leader, David Olenski. They hid deep in the Polish forests.

Charles Aisen, who was born into a tinsmith and iron-working family in 1901, left Poland for Melbourne in 1926. He created this tin sculpture after travelling to Warsaw for the 22nd anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising
