A Point in Time is the third anthology of the Melbourne Child Survivors of the Holocaust Group and is the culmination of interviews given over six months. The 12 featured child survivors told the interviewer of their pre-war life, Holocaust survival, a fresh start in Melbourne and subsequent contributions to and achievements in their new homeland. Each survivor was asked to draw on key Holocaust memories they believed ultimately impacted on their life perspective, shaping them into the adults they became. At times shocking and heart-breaking, their stories are also life-affirming. These 12 child survivors did more than just survive – they thrived.

    Julia Reichstein is the Librarian and Information Manager at the Melbourne Holocaust Museum [MHM]. Julia also works for Smart Records Group, indexing outsourced school administrative and archival records. Julia graduated from Monash University with a Graduate Diploma in Information Management and Systems in 2008. She also holds a Bachelor of Performing Arts degree.

    Viv PARRY

    Viv Parry has served as a volunteer community worker for over 30 years. Her mother’s family fled from Berlin in 1938, while her father experienced the horrors of war in New Guinea during the Second World War. Viv has provided support to the homeless in St. Kilda, to asylum seekers through the Brigidine Convent Asylum Seeker Project and to Aboriginal men and women and their families. She served as Vice-President of the Child Survivors of the Holocaust and Chairperson for 10 years.
