Please Note: The museum will close for Passover and ANZAC Day.

Since day one, our volunteers have been the lifeblood of our organisation – and integral to our day-to-day operations. If you want to support our mission and make an impact in the community, we invite you to join our team.

Become a volunteer

Each year, more than 160 people donate their time to our museum. These volunteers are a vital support to our programs, as they assist educators in guiding children through the museum, catalogue our collections, research for exhibitions – and help compile oral testimonies.

They also ensure our daily operations run smoothly by helping with admin and fundraising activities.

Why volunteer?

As a volunteer, you’ll join our welcoming community and a supportive team.

You can share your expertise, develop new skills, gain experience in a relevant field and contribute to the visitor experience.

More importantly, you can empower the MHM to continue its mission of amplifying the voices of Holocaust survivors – and educating the next generation.

Who can volunteer?

We welcome people from diverse backgrounds and communities. From students to job seekers to retirees, our volunteers have varied skill and knowledge levels.

So if you’re passionate about our mission and want to help us further our goals, we’d love to hear from you.

How do I become a volunteer?

To become a volunteer, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Pass a National Police Check
  • Hold a current Victorian Working with Children Check
  • Commit to at least one day per month
  • Agree to the values and policies of Melbourne Holocaust Museum

Depending on the nature of the voluntary work available, you may be required to take the Holocaust Education course at the MHM.

Interested? Please complete our volunteer application form and we’ll be in touch with next steps.
