Student and Holocaust survivor lighting candle in remembrance of those murdered.

Where hope shines brighter than hate. A world without antisemitism, racism and prejudice. That is our vision. We are achieving this by preserving the artefacts and educating on the lessons of the Holocaust. One school, one visitor, one generation at a time.

Teachers of the truth

MHM is a leader in Holocaust education, providing programs to students, teachers, visitors and workplaces. Over 800,000 students have experienced the power of the survivors’ stories and artefacts – and the life-long lessons they instil.

By amplifying the voices of eyewitnesses, we share the truth of these experiences with clarity and integrity. Educating through survivors’ personal stories is a powerful way to spark something in entire generations to better themselves, each other and the world.

Preserving history – keeping the lessons alive

The collections housed within the MHM walls are among the most extensive in Australia, with most artefacts coming directly from the survivors. Every artefact and testimony bring a unique history, with stories of fear, loss, survival and hope. Each offering a transformative learning experience and impact that will live with you for days, months and years to come.

We piece together these fragments to pay tribute to our survivors’ experiences and provide a physical reminder of a past we do not want repeated. Inside this museum we hope to ignite your sense of humanity; and empower you to champion kindness, bravery, and fairness wherever you go.

The Holocaust... was something that happened to people, by people. I will remember we are capable of being the humans who perpetrate such horrors. So we can prevent something like the Holocaust ever happening again."
