FutureGen was established in 2024 to cultivate a new generation of community leaders committed to preserving Holocaust history and education. FutureGen connects members through meaningful events, initiatives, and fundraising that directly support the long-term sustainability of the Museum.

The program was officially launched at a landmark event at the Melbourne Holocaust Museum, which saw over 300 people in attendance, reflecting strong community enthusiasm and support. Through dynamic programming and collective action, FutureGen plays a vital role in safeguarding the future of Holocaust remembrance, education, and impact.

An exclusive behind-the-scenes access to Underground: The Hidden Archive of the Warsaw Ghetto.

On display for the first time outside of Europe, Underground exhibits rare artefacts from the hidden archive of the Warsaw Ghetto. This archive was led by historian Emanuel Ringelblum who initiated an unprecedented campaign to collect material in the ghetto—the collection today known as the Ringelblum Archive. This collective of academics, writers, and activists working secretly in the first attempt to document the German-initiated mass murder of European Jews as it was happening. The exhibition brings home to the viewer the act of resistance that the underground archive of the Warsaw Ghetto constituted—a never-ending, arduous, harrowing but ultimately successful attempt to write the story of the Holocaust from the perspective of its victims.

Freeman discussed the importance of being open about one’s Jewishness, the necessity of maintaining Jewish pride, and techniques for inculcating a love of Judaism in one’s children. With increasing levels of antisemitism in Melbourne and around the world, this conversation will also afford an opportunity to consider tactics for navigating hostile situations.

‘Ngapa William Cooper’ is a collaborative creation by renowned composer Nigel Westlake, Lior and Lou Bennett, honouring Cooper’s courage when most were silent. Inspired by the actions of First Nations activist William Cooper in response the persecution of Jews by the Nazi regime on Kristallnacht.
