National Day of Mourning
22 Jan 2026

On Thursday, 22 January, the Melbourne Holocaust Museum invites the community to come together for a National Day of Mourning. This is a time to pause, reflect, and stand in solidarity with all those affected by violence, hatred and loss.

The Museum will be open with complimentary entry, offering a space for quiet reflection, remembrance and learning. Through survivor testimony, personal stories and historical artefacts, visitors are invited to reflect on the lessons of the Holocaust and the enduring importance of empathy, dignity and human rights.

As part of the day, visitors are invited to contribute to a Wall of Hope by leaving a message of hope, memory or resilience. This shared space of reflection allows our community to honour lives lost, acknowledge pain, and affirm a collective commitment to compassion and understanding.
