In the Sunset of My Days: Fourth Anthology of the Melbourne Child Survivors of the Holocaust

Melbourne Child Survivors of the Holocaust

About this book
Child Survivors of the Holocaust share their messages of hope for future generations. “In the Sunset of My Days is an anthology in which child survivors reflect on their lives through a wide-angle lens of old age. Have their memories faded? It appears not, but their memories now combine with pride and wonder at what they have achieved. Child Survivors of the Holocaust send genuine, warm messages of hope to future generations. Their wish is that their dark Holocaust history will serve the world as a lesson, never to be repeated.” – Viv Parry, Co-President of the Melbourne Child Survivors of the Holocaust, 2025.

EXCERPT
“I am a Jew who affirms hope that through my actions and words I might encourage my descendants to promote hope, hold back the winds of hatred and bring about that better world we all seek. In the sunset years of their lives, all in this book hope that their final messages, born of their own experiences, will help bring forth a better world, one that will never again repeat their own travails." - Dr Paul Valent (Melbourne Child Survivors of the Holocaust Founder), page xiv

Melbourne Child Survivors of the Holocaust

The Melbourne Child Survivors of the Holocaust (CSH) group was formed in 1990. It was founded by child survivor Dr Paul Valent who was inspired after returning from an overseas conference about giving voice and legitimacy to children who survived the Holocaust.

Since Melbourne CSH’s formation, the group has been housed under the auspices of Melbourne Holocaust Museum (MHM).

Melbourne CSH provides an identity, sense of belonging and platform for this unique collective of survivors.
