Planning an excursion to the MHM? We’re here to support your Holocaust education needs – before, during and after your visit. Our school programs include everything you need to give your students the best learning experience outside the classroom. Here’s what you need to know in preparation for your school visit.

Making difficult truths safe for young minds

Our school programs take students safely in, safely out, and safely throughout their Holocaust education experience – in line with the MHM education philosophy.

We are also here to support teachers like you – before, during and after the excursion.

Our Education Hub allows you to access comprehensive lesson plans and resources to prepare for the visit – and later, reflect on the experience.

If you have any questions or want to learn more, contact our education team via education@mhm.org.au or 03 9528 1985.

  • What information do I need to provide when I book?

When you complete your online booking, we’ll ask you to fill out all the information we need.

  • Can I get discounted prices?

  • How do I pay?

We’ll issue a tax invoice after your booking is confirmed. This is payable within 7 days of the invoice date.

If your group size on the day is more than the final confirmation number, we’ll adjust the tax invoice. Adjustment invoices have a 7-day payment term.

If your group size on the day is smaller than the final confirmation number, we are unable to give any deduction or refunds.

Please read our terms and conditions to learn more.

  • How many students can attend a session?

Our museum can accommodate up to 50 students per Hidden session and 120 students for the In Touch with Memory program – and we generally have multiple schools attending the same session.

If you prefer to book an exclusive session for your group, we can arrange this at a cost. Please note this on your booking request form, and we’ll get in touch to discuss your options.

  • What are the session times?

We hold two sessions every weekday:

    • 9.45am to 12pm
    • 12.15pm to 2.30pm
  • Can we change our session times?

Our session times are set and cannot be changed.

  • How many teachers need to come on the excursion?

In line with the Victorian Education Department guidelines for local excursions, the regular 1:20 staff–student ratio – with an additional accompanying staff member – apply.

You should also have a minimum of two staff in your school group.

While at the MHM, your educational institution is responsible for supervising student behaviour throughout the visit, including during the workshop. MHM staff and facilitators, in this case, are the guest presenters.

  • Will we get to meet a survivor?

Our In Touch with Memory program includes a unique Q+A session with a survivor.

However, they may sometimes be unable to attend the program due to ill health. If this happens, we will inform you and change the program activities.
